Spring has officially arrived at Belfast Zoo and keepers have been kept particularly busy caring for the latest additions to the zoo farmyard!
Peppa pig welcomed six Tamworth piglets at the start of April. Hannah the African pygmy goat also welcomed two kids, named Coffee and Bananas, on 23 April and celebrations continued on 11 May 2013 when Pixie the African pygmy goat welcomed a further two kids, named Sparkles and Glitter. These hyperactive bundles of joy are now becoming more adventurous and have definitely made the farmyard a noisier place to be!
Zoo manager, Mark Challis, is delighted with the new arrivals “The zoo farm is always popular with zoo visitors, particularly when there are new babies but the farm also plays a very important role in the zoo as it gives us the opportunity to educate visitors about our rare breed farm animals.”
