Based on some of the first original designs ever created by the company that was invented on the beaches of Maui, Kolohe (£225.00 RRP) and Kawika (£225.00 RRP) are designed for collectors who appreciate the craftsmanship evident in the thin, lightweight nylon frames that are accented with fine filigree-scrolled silver/ nickel temples and nose bridges. Both styles feature the MauiPure lens with bi-gradient mirrors.
The look originally made famous by Andy Warhol, John Lennon, Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly makes a strong statement this season with Liana (£190.00 RRP), a high-grade nylon frame featuring a curvy round shape, enhanced with a gentle keyhole nose bridge and anti-corrosive spring hinges. Liana’s lenses are made from SuperThin (ST) Glass that is 20 percent lighter and thinner than conventional glass lenses. This style features Maui Jim’s unique bi-gradient mirrors that are darker at the top and bottom of each lens so they “squint” for you.
Small Kine (£255.00 RRP), Hawaiian Time (£255.00 RRP) and Honomanu (£255.00 RRP) are the world’s only aviators with lightweight MauiPure lenses and MauiGradient™ (single gradient) tinting that is darker at the top and gradually gets lighter towards the bottom of the ultra-light lens. These ultra-light frames have a durable titanium base for superior comfort.
Hana Hou (£215.00 RRP) is the round, full-metal cousin of the styles in the retro collection. This dressed-up Monel metal frame features luxurious filigree work on the bridge and temples, as well as stunning beaded detailing around each lens. With this style, Maui Jim’s ultra-clear SuperThin (ST) Glass lenses with bi-gradient mirrors are on display which are 20 percent thinner and lighter than conventional glass lenses and offer a purity of view that is unmatched.
If you need corrective vision, Maui Jim will make your sunny days even more beautiful because they are now be able to make more of their lightest and most durable sunglasses in prescription and a range of colors to fit the majority of its frame styles for outdoor activities. All of Maui Jim’s prescription lenses are sold under the MauiPassport™ brand name and manufactured in the company’s 25,000 square-foot state-of-the-art digital surfacing lab. Single vision or progressive polycarbonate sunglass lenses will be an option in many of the company’s 98 frame styles.
