Having arrived in the province not long into our resurgence as a world force in Rugby Union John instantly and has continued to be a leader in complete dedication to professionalism and we are delighted to say 100% enjoying the moment, he has Captained Ulster and as Rab Irwin the Ulster 99 winning tight head prop said “The real thing”. Awesome power, absolutely solid scrum time and last season when he arrived later in the season he ran on the park and blasted about 4 opposition players out of the way before giving an off load, and we’re remembering that we can do that to John we suspect has kept no secrets from the guys, we suspect his message has been simple, work at it, build a true comararderie with your team mates, be honest, work as a unit, and over this past few seasons the Ulster props have all been doing it on the pitch and really proving that we also are great props and there will be Ulster props who will show the world. At the Carrick 7s John and Jared where there with the NGN 7s and Paddy McAllister amongst others and the confidence the whole squad bring to everything they do is top class.
It has been an honour to watch you play and truly we will support you and Ulster moving forward and stay positive and move forward.
