This year on May 21st 2014, for the first time, ‘Mandela Belfast’ is being held in the Ulster Hall, Belfast. The Event is a celebration of the life of Nelson Mandela and the first celebrated event in Northern Ireland to mark the peace process and its continuation.

The concert will be a night of entertainment and music you are unlikely to see anywhere else during the year. An eclectic mix of acts and some of the cream of Northern Irish music, it will be an unforgettable night.

‘Mandela Belfast’ – The Vision

The loss of Nelson Mandela, the global champion of peace and reconciliation, came during a time of renewed turmoil and uncertainty in Northern Ireland – we are once again perceived internationally as a society of unrest, extremism and violence.

‘Mandela Belfast’ is the event we hope will change that – we are taking Northern Ireland forward by reclaiming the very essence of what Nelson Mandela stood for:
“… to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
We are an ever expanding group of people from different walks of life, different political and religious backgrounds who share a commitment to forging a peaceful, shared and tolerant society. This is an event that will not only raise awareness and money but will create an emotive focal point for the people of Northern Ireland to renew their commitment to the Peace Process and to reconciliation.

This event is – ‘Mandela Belfast’
