Its obvious why CLontarf played this game. Quite strategic actually in the long term. Full report below from the superb Malone RFC website.
At one point the field was littered with Clontarf players failing to cope with the physicality. Apparently Benade was continuously changing players bedding in the one club mentality, boyz filtering in and out playing as one 30+ strong I XV squad – amazing commitment from everyone to the team, training, physicality and skill.

Malone acquitted themselves very well indeed they started really well scoring through Jay Malcolm and through Taylor Acheson. Both sides played open and fast pace rugby, and it was Malone who extended their lead further when Michael Barker got their 3rd Try.

Clontarf responded almost immediately and scored a pushover try. Clontarf started to uptheir game and were rewarded with another try. Malone responded with a Pete Raine try.

In the final 15 minutes of the game Clontarf started to pull away scoring 2 forward orientated trys through there very strong and athletic pack, leaving the final score at 42-26 in favour of Clontarf.

Malone coach Jaques Benade took the opportunity to give as many players as possible some game time, some of our new signings looked impressive with Tom Patton and Andrew Kelly showing well.

The next outing is next week when we take on Ulster U20’s at Gibson Park
