The UD’s lost their Butler Shield QF against Inishowen 1st XV 0-12

The UD’s again let Inishowen do a smash and grab on them. Despite playing the actual rugby they failed to take advantage of 2/3 try scoring opportunitys and allowed the opposition score a try on basically their only attack in the first half.

At the start of the second half the UD’s continued to press and again failed to turn pressure into points On one of the attacks near the Innishowen line the opposition centre intercepted the ball and ran the full length of the pitch to score giving them a 12 point lead.

From then on Innishowen slowed the game down , killing ball and numerous injury breaks which prevented the UD’s from getting back into the game

The fifth XV won their QF game in the Butler Shield with a fine away win against Banbridge, result to follow.

U17s On A Roll

Next Saturday Malone’s Under 17 squad will be seeking to join the U19’s as Ulster’s representatives in the All Ireland semi finals. Many of the young Red Sox will be chasing their third consecutive Ulster title when they take on Banbridge. Over the past few seasons Malone have bested their upcoming opponents on SIX out of seven occasions including two Ravenhill finals. Saturday’s League Final is finely balanced however as this season both teams have had one victory each. There is little doubt that this will be a fantastic battle. Malone will take much confidence from winning those two key finals but will head into the game knowing a top drawer performance is needed.

The game will be played at Lisburn RFC this Saturday 26th February. A later than normal kick off has been scheduled for 11.30. All support will be very welcome, please get down if you can and make sure our U17’s have the biggest and loudest support on the day!
