Malone performed well in their opening Ulster League game when they hosted Ballymena at Gibson Park
Malone won their opening Ulster league game when they play old rivals Ballymena, the final score was 29-16.
Neither side was at full strength with players missing due to Provincial commitments but it was Malone who fared better on the day, Malone worked tirelessly during the game and all the players looked hungry and showed a lot of endeavour.
Malone scored tries through Glen Moore, Neil Alcorn, Darryl Maxwell, Johnny Burgess and Chris Leathem with Josh Pentland and Pete Raine each kicking a conversion.

The three senior teams all recorded wins on Saturday with some impressive results
The 2nd XV opened proceedings at Gibson Park when they played some superb rugby to thump Ballymena 2’s by 60-13.
The 1st’s then won well against Ballymena 1’s running out deserved winners by 29-16.
The Vikings who were away to Carrick in a friendly won well out scoring their opponents by 14-36
The UD’s who were away to Dundalk playing a friendly lost their game by the narrowest of margins a single point going down by 15-14
