Ballynahinch ran out winners in this junior Cup game by 7 – 39.

Malone hosted visitors Clonakilty at Gibson Park in the opening game of the Ulster Bank League 2 A

The conditions were poor with heavy driving rain and wind for both teams to contend with.
Malone had the better of the opening half and amassed a total of 17 points with hooker Darry maxwell getting a brace of tries and out half Josh Pentland adding 2 conversion and a penalty.
The visitors had only a single penalty to show for their endeavours through full back Matt Kirby.
The second half saw the visitors up their game and they took play into the Malone half with some excellent worh from their pack and they were rewarded with a try which was unconverted.
The home side play dipped for a spell in the middle of the half and the Clonakilty pack lay seige to the Malone line for several minutes, however they were unable to breach an excellent home defence. They scored a further 2 penaltys through Matt Kirby.
Malone they came back heavily into the game and were rewarded with a try through Glen Moore whos pick and drive saw him cross the line after the home forwards had layed seige to the visitors line for a lengthy period.
Malone ran out worthy winners by 24-14, comisserations to Clonakility who came very close to obtaining a losing bonus point which was pulled from their grasp with Malones last score.

Malone started the game as they had done the previous week by conceding 2 early tries and going down 12-0.
Malone responded and got the score back to 12-5 with a try from Bruce Harper.
Civil then kicked a penalty to go in with a 15-5 lead at half time.
Malone started the second half the stronger of the two and managed to get the score back to 15 all with another try from Bruce Harper this time converting, and a penalty from Steven Stone.
Civil took the lead with another converted try.
Steven Stone kicked another penalty to bring the game to within 4. Another converted try by Civil put the game beyond reach.
