What an eventful year the Ladies of Malone have had this season.

We started our year way back in September. This was of course after many back room meetings sorting out an agenda for the year. Some of these meetings involved some alcoholic beverages as our creative juices seemed to flow better!

You will all remember our hilarious paper chase night when we had our frantic search through the Telegraph for clues. And then the ransom notes to secure the release of our kidnapped Lady President. Big sighs of relief when she was returned unharmed (still not sure Steve didn’t arrange that kidnap in the hope we would have spent all our money at the bar and therefore we would be unable to pay for her release).

Then the inventive ladies put on a fashion show. How creative were those outfits?? The Belfast Telegraph has never seen the likes of it.

We had our pashmina and handbags ladies in November and this enabled us to do some Christmas shopping as well as buy a few wee treats for ourselves.

We had our usual Christmas dinner and dance in December and lots of effort went into hair accessories/hats for the night. Food was as good as usual and plenty of dancing was done. Not always in a lady like manner I may add.

And then we got to February… in the words of that song…oh what a night!!

This was our hunks in trunks night. Never mind oh what a night, more like. .oh what a sight!! All those lovely young buff fit young men with their bodies on show and delivering us cocktails and cupcakes. Surely a night to remember.

March saw live music for the evening. Blues and jazz with Gerry Mawhinney and friends. Another well received 1st for ladies night.

April saw our Easter bonnet parade. Oh my goodness. There was a massive amount of effort put into all the bonnets including lights, glow sticks and butterflies. I can only guess how pritt sticks were used.

Joan of course provided our quiz and also her usual tasty jams.

Lots of good raffle prizes were donated and all our meetings were very well attended.

The Ladies committee also organized the brilliant ‘night at the camel races’ on St Patricks night. Anyone who attended will agree it was one the best nights entertainment we had seen in the club in a long time.

I think when you read all of the above you will agree we had a very busy entertaining year.

Hopefully everyone enjoyed themselves and our meetings certainly made Wednesday nights more enjoyable than putting the ironing board up!
