On the back of this year’s success, Lurgan have announced the launch of an under 19 team to create a seamless link for players through youth and into senior rugby. The under 13 were this seasons cup winners, with the 15s claiming the bowl and the under 17s getting their hands on the shield.
Club development officer Jonathan Gillespie commented ‘It’s been both an exciting and rewarding season and I must thank all of our young players and coaches who worked tirelessly throughout the year.
We see the Under 19 age group as the next progression within our structures moving our young players towards adult rugby and we look forward to the challenges it brings next year. There has also been success this season for the Lurgan Junior High School (U12 High Schools Cup) along with the Craigavon Senior High School (U16 High Schools Plate) – two of our feeder schools so rugby in the town is certainly on the up. Our players have a well earned break now and a chance to get refreshed before we call them back for training on the first Tuesday in August.’
