So far in 2012, the club has had a fair bit of success on the field. The Tigers U13 rugby team won the cup at Ravenhill and the u13 cricket team has replicated this by winning their cup a couple of weeks ago. The U11 cricket team won the NCU Plate competition and yesterday, the cricket 1st XI won their league and have been promoted back to the Premier League. In addition, the 2nd XI got to the Intermediate Cup Final, where they were defeated by Muckamore.
The rugby season has started well with the U19’s having a great win over Banbridge last week and hopefully the 1st XV will mirror the 1st XI and gain promotion this season.
There are a lot of very positive things happening about the club and there is much more of a buzz around Pollock Park these days. Earlier in the year our volunteers redecorated the clubhouse and cleaned up inside and out. There have been a few very successful events including the Flash Harry concert, Sportsmans Dinner with Peter Clohessey and the Tag Rugby blitz day and we have a few coming up including the Gala Night at the Dogs on 28th September.
We need to keep the momentum going and I would ask you all to do your bit as we continue to move the club forward.
If anyone has any ideas as to how we can improve things around the club or events we should be running please contact me.
Also, the committee would like to see more people taking on responsibilities and organising fundraising events. If you are prepared to do this, please speak to me or one of the committee members.
We want to turn Pollock Park into a modern, state of the art sporting and social complex and need EVERYONES help in achieving this – if you can give up some time and help to make this a reality, please comment below or contact me directly via Facebook, by e-mail – graemehunter@lurganrfcc.com or by phone on 07763 910565.
Your help and ideas would be much appreciated.
