Local rugby player looking forward to Spanish challenge

DRUMSURN man John Semple will be taking on a new challenge this year as he moves to Spain to play rugby.
Semple who has been playing rugby since the age of five when his father took him to Limavady Rugby Club and he was part of the Ulster Junior team for two seasons in a row.
After finishing his studies, the outhalf stepped up the levels by joining Ballymena, in Division 1B of the AIL but he got off to a bad start by breaking his leg as the AIL was set to start before breaking it again in April. He visited several doctors, before surgery to place a plate in his leg helped him to fully recover from injury, it was then Semple made the decision to visit New Zealand.
“I had just finished my degree and thought I’d like to see the world especially New Zealand. I had played rugby with some Kiwi guys at Ballymena and Limavady so I contacted them and they put me in touch with some clubs which really helped me out. I got to play rugby in some of New Zeland’s biggest cities including Christchurch where I played with and against some Super 15 players,” said Semple…….. for the full story CLICK HERE!
