Kukri Qualifying 2 Carrickfergus 1XV v Limavady 1XV
Tom Simm’s Memorial Park, Woodland Grounds, Carrickfergus
28th October 2013
Limavady lost their second Q2 game of the season in a disappointing spectacle at Tom Simm’s Memorial Park.
Although missing regulars, Greg Jordan, Adam Kyle, Eddie McLaughlin, Alan and Stephen Kilburn the visitors took an early lead through the boot of Pearse McNickle. neither side came close to another score in the half. HT 0-3
The second half continued in a similar vein to the first, as both sides struggled to get a foothold on the game. Carrick gained their first points from a scrum, when the number 8 crashed over the line to give them a 2 point advantage. McNickle had an opportunity for the All Blacks to regain the lead but missed the penalty attempt.
It wasn’t until the final minutes that Carrick secured the win with a well worked second try. Although happy with the win Carrick will be as disappointed with their performance, as will Limavady who have shown some great plays in their previous games. FT 10-
Next week the Roesiders travel to County Tyrone to take on league newcomers Strabane.
