Limavady were knocked out of the Towns Cup at the hands of Dromore. A strong start from home team provided them with an early lead, prop A. McDonald going under the post after slack Limavady defending, scrum-half Steenson added the extra two points. Dromore continued to push, but the visitors defence held firm.

It wasn’t until prop Andy Carmichael got sin binned that Dromore got their second. The try came from second row R. WIlson who had nothing to do but fall on the ball after the scrum was drove over the line. Steenson missed his conversion attempt.

The Roesiders then sprung to life, and a dummy from Greg Jordan put centre Chris Hunter in for their first of the afternoon. Jordan slotted home the conversion. HT 12-7

Limavady continued to dominate in the second half, but Steenson’s boot gave the County Down men another 3 points. Dromore then had hooker F. Mulholland sent to the bin, and the all blacks took full advantage. Jordan’s cross field kick was plucked out of the air by winger Robinson, who was able to beat the last defender and slide in the corner. Jordan missed the conversion.

After the restart Jordan had the opportunity to even the game but missed his penalty, and even though Limavady had all of the possession for the remainder of the game, they were unable to get a precious score to take them through to the next round. FT 15-12
