P3s win, U15s win and U19s still top of the table after their win against Ballymoney
On Saturday Larne Rugby Clubs’s new u15s played only their 3rd game with players mainly from Larne High School travelled to Stormont to play Civil Sevice. The first half was finely balanced with the home side having plenty of possession but solid defence & some big hits in the backs with jack Finlay to the fore, denying them any points.
Larne’s normal game plan of quick offload was being disrupted as the ref constantly whistled in a scrappy opening spell. However, near half time the Glynn men went ahead when strapping second row Josh Reynolds took a quick tap penalty for an unconverted try.
Coach Davy Wilson advised the players at half time that more patience on the ball was required and this proved effective as Larne dominated the 2nd period. With Al Burke showed his class playing in the unaccustomed 15 shirt, to run in 3 brilliant tries with McRandal converting two. Glenn Wilson then side stepped several defenders to slip a pass to skipper Luke ‘the fridge’ Burfoot who got the most popular try of the day playing as prop. Receiving the pass he then dummied an opposition player before crashing through the home pack to score. This all happened shortly after the moment of the match when Luke bounced at least 2 defenders nik Williams style before slipping a reverse pass to Burke who ran in for the try.
This was another terrific display for a new team with a big future. With regular coaching at school and at the rugby club, this team will go onto bigger & better things. Final score Civil Service u15s 7 v Larne u15s 29
