Larne Victorious in Donegal
The AM Nexday Larne 1st XV travelled to the other side of the country for their Qualifying 3 league match against Donegal Town RFC.
The long bus journey meant the Larne men didn’t have their usual pre-match warm up and they started the game in slow fashion which allowed the home side to enjoy some early field position.
It was not long until Donegal took the lead when a soft penalty allowed them an easy shot at goal right in front of the posts. Larne 2nds contest a hard win.
Sat 11 October saw Larne 2nd xv play host to a strengthened Banbridge squad at the Glynn.
Within the first minute Larne got the score board ticking with a well struck penalty from Matthew Agnew after a Banbridge infringement at the first breakdown. Larne battered away there forwards in Banns 22 but they held strong, a turnover saw their 10 put a mighty kick down field, Agnew fielded the kick well and dummied a return which left their chasing player wondering where he was, Agnew set off in a weaving run through the defence and linked well with Richard McIlheron who came on a superb angle to gain further valuable yards only to be stopped by a good cover tackle by Ban’s winger…… see more at :- http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/larnerfc/s/match-centre-57365/0-2507619
Slow start but success for Larne 3rds
On Saturday 11th October, Larne 3rds travelled to Newforge to take on the PSNI 2nds.
With 3 wins from 3 Larne looked to extend their unbeaten run. In what was destined to be a tough physical game Larne drafted in relative newcomer J. McCluggage and Leeds superstar M. McKinley to add extra wallop to an already solid pack. The back line mixed age experience and wisdom in the half back pairing with the youth and speed of the centers and fullback…….. see more at :- http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/larnerfc/s/match-centre-57366/0-2507683
