IRELAND UNDER 19 SQUAD ANNOUNCED
29th September 2014, 20:35
Ireland under 19 Head Coach Conor Kelly has today finalised his twenty man squad which will take part in Rugby League Ireland’s (RLI) first internationals at this level.
Two fixtures against Scotland and Wales will be held alongside the European Championship fixtures. Ireland will play Scotland at home in Tallaght Stadium on Saturday the 25th of October before travelling to Wales on the 2nd of November.
The under 19 squad is made up of players who took part in the recent Schools Origin fixture between Leinster and Ulster as well as players from the domestic competition.
Speaking on announcing the squad Kelly said; “We are excited to be able to put this squad together this year following the recent schools activity. It is great to see young players taking up the game and we hope that these fixtures will help aid the development of the game at under age levels in Ireland.”
“The players have been working hard since March and cutting the squad down was a difficult task. We now have to work hard on preparing the twenty players for two tough games against Scotland and Wales.”
“Both have had under 19 set ups for a while now so we face a tough challenge but I am confident this group of players will relish that challenge.”
The Under 19 fixtures will take place as curtain raisers to the senior international fixtures in Tallaght Stadium in Dublin and the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.
