Official confirmation of a re-branding exercise by the forces looks set to complete the process soon.
Beginning with a I XV fixture against the British Police I XV in November followed by the French Police I XV in the new year.
The badge worn by ‘Ireland Police Rugby’ will be made up of a combination of the Garda and PSNI crests.
The two forces have been playing together since 2003 but have now decided to put their relationship on a new footing.
