“I think the character that the boys showed against Leinster was phenomenal. We were dissapointed by the defeat we thought we had alot of possession and territory. We went to win. I suppose its a reflection of how well the team have done in the series to be able to say they 100% deserve to be what they are which is the best U19 I XV in Ireland. The biggest test was the Connacht game, which Connacht went on to show by beating Munster, who had trounced Leinster the week before. They say you earn your luck and thats what the guys did. They have worked exceptionally hard but if you look at the way they have performed it is a significant stride forward for that U19 age group, the boys this year will join this years 18 year old U20s. When you think of the age difference then we know 100% we are building real depth in our squads.
Put it this way –This year we were able to take 9 u19s out of the u19 panel and put them into the U20 panel and the U19s still won the interpro championship.
ITs a reflection of the effort of everyone and in particular the players. Its 14 weeks of high performance and its not just the guys in the 22, it is also guys who attended the game on Sat, who came there to watch, and that just shows the quality of the support for the players and I could not speak highly enough of everyone.”
