This pre-season friendly was played in good conditions at Larne. It was played as 3 25 minute periods. For many players this was their first outing in an Instonian jersey. The game was tight with both sides scoring 3 tries each. Inst were testing new combinations in attack and defence and they did not always work. Weak tackling allowed Larne to score 2 converted tries in the first period. Instonians fought back to hold the lead until 3 minutes from the end and then almost stole the game when they were adjuged to benn held up in the last attack of the game.
