This second round McCrea Cup encounter was kicked off at Shaw’s Bridge in overcast but otherwise fine conditions. The Instonian XV had little resemblance to the one which comfortably defeated Cooke in the league last week. It was good to see a couple of players back after long term injury.
Instonians began well enough and had a penalty within the first minute when Queen’s went offside after the kick off. They kicked down the line and won the lineout only for Queen’s to go offside again in front of their posts. From 18 metres out Fraser Wright made no mistake to put his side 3-0 up.
