U17 Conference 2
Inishowen hosted an U17 Finn Valley team on Saturday and played a fiercely competitive match from start to finish. Finn Valley kicked off and found themselves immediately under pressure from the Inishowen backs running from deep into their opposite half, Finn Valley were penalised for off side infringements at the ruck and a scrum was opted for by Inishowen. The pack drove well and secured safe ball for a set move of no.8 picking and going then feeding the scrum half for the first score of the match. Inishowen continued to dominate for the remained of the first half and made numerous rolling substitutions to ensure all players had game time. Inishowen ran in two more tries before the break with one conversion leaving the half time score 17-0.
The second half saw a reversal of play where the lads from Finn Valley upped their work load and brought themselves back into the match scoring three tries in quick succession leaving a lot of work to be done, Inishowen 17-19 Finn Valley. The Inishowen lads dug deep, focussed on the task at hand and played some outstanding rugby with ten minutes remaining on the clock. The concerted effort paid dividends for the home team as Inishowen closed out the game with three more tries to finish 34-19 winners.
