Cookstown 7 Enniskillen 3’s 10
Cookstown entertained Enniskillen at Drapersfield last Saturday and it was the visitors who came away with a narrow 3 point victory.
The visitors who lost by the same score-line to rivals Omagh last weekend where reduced to 14 men along with Cookstowns Quinn after an altercation on the pitch and the visitors missed an early chance to take an early lead but missed with their penalty attempt
And only a forward pass moments later right on the try line denied the visitors the opening try of the game. L.Currie tested the visiting defence with a drive after the ten minute mark but the visitors counter rucked and where able to turn the ball over and clear their lines.
A Cookstown ball was charged down and the visitors nearly capitalised however the pace of Woods is what saved the day. The visitors did eventually take the lead via the boot of their scrum-half to take a 3 point lead. Eniskillen should have scored a try mid way trough the first half but after a grubber kick and chase the player fumbled over the line and the referee award a scrum for the knock on.
Killen missed a penalty right at the start of the second half but eventually took the lead. The number 8 picked the ball up at the back of a scrum and a missed tackle left him with the chance to score, with the conversion being kicked over.
Tempers flaired and with 13 minutes to go Mallon was shown a yellow card and dispite being down to 14 men it was the home side who had the final say. After a couple of tap and go’s it was prop Mauricus who touched down much to the delight of the home players and support with Currie converting.
