Ulster Branch Senior Community Rugby Officer Darren McGuigan ran a girls youth development day in Letterkenny recently. Girls from Finn Valley, Donegal Town, Letterkenny, Inishowen and Cavan took part in a programme aimed at improving skills and understanding of the game at under age level. The sessions were led by local Donegal Club Community Rugby Officers with the girls being split up into u15 and u18 age groups. The u15s were coached on the fundamentals of the Leprechaun Rugby format and the u18s girls focused on a modified contact game.
Afterwards the recently formed Finn Valley adult ladies team played their first contact match against neighbours Letterkenny.
Darren thanked all club coaches and volunteers for bringing their girls to Letterkenny and also thanked Anne Robinson of Letterkenny RFC for her help and for use of club pitches.
