ZOMBIE KITTENS
Zombie Kittens is still the highly strategic, kitty-powered version of
Russian Roulette that you love, but introduces a brand new deck of
cards so your game doesn’t end just because you blow up. Only living
players can win the game, but dead players now get to keep the cards
in their hands when they explode. They also get to play certain cards
to torment the living players. And they can even come back from the
dead to win the game. In Zombie Kittens, exploding just means you’ll
have a chance to rise from the grave and take your revenge. Gives
“nine lives” a whole new meaning! Bring back your friends (and
enemies) in this undead spin of your favourite Russian Roulette style
kitten card game.
Zombie Kittens can be played by itself or can be combined with
Exploding Kittens. Age 7+, 2+ players and includes 61 original cards

White chocolate Granola Bark Halloween Ghosts www.lizis.co.uk
Perfect for a Halloween from home, these white chocolate granola bark ghosts are the ideal sweet treat.
Made with Lizi’s Original Granola, this seasonal recipe is a must make for families, and you can even personalise yours by adding some of your own favourites when decorating like raisins or nuts.
INGREDIENTS
350g white chocolate
50g of Lizi’s Original Granola
30 Sugar eyes for decoration
Raisins to decorate
METHOD TO MAKE 15 GHOSTS
1. Using some non-stick baking paper, draw ghost shapes on the back
2. Break up the white chocolate into chunks and place in a heatproof bowl.
3. With the hob on a medium heat, place the heatproof bowl over a pan of barely simmering water. Be careful that the water doesn’t boil and avoid over stirring.
4. As the chocolate starts to melt, lift the bowl off the heat and stir the chocolate gently.
5. Leave the bowl of melted chocolate on a heatproof surface for the chocolate to cool a little to room temperature.
6. Lay the baking paper with the ghost drawings on to a large flat baking tray with the ghosts face down.
7. Using a teaspoon, spoon two teaspoons worth of the chocolate into the middle of the ghost shapes, using a clean teaspoon to nudge the chocolate to fill the ghost outline.
8. Repeat until all the ghosts are filled with the chocolate.
9. Returning to the first ghost, add another layer of chocolate on top in the same way with the teaspoons so that the ghosts are thicker.
10. Put the 50g Lizi’s Original Granola into a jam jar and with a clean teaspoon, sprinkle some of the granola across the bottom of the chocolate ghost. Start with the first ghost you made and continue until all the ghosts have a covering of granola.
11. Press on two of the sugar eyes and a raisin/nut for a mouth into the chocolate to give the ghosts their spooky faces.
12. Carefully put the whole tray of ghosts into the fridge to set for at least 6 hours to overnight. Enjoy!
NOTES: Lizi’s Original Granola: RRP £3.69 for 500g, available from Tesco, ASDA, Sainsbury’s and Ocado.

The haunted fortresses of Scotland
Scottish castles are home to many a soul who met an unfortunate end. Stories tell of their cries echoing in the long corridors and silhouettes pacing through the grounds. In the castles of Scotland, horror and history await.
On Rabbie’s one day tour of St Andrews & the Fishing Villages of Fife guests visit the historic settlement of Falkland, home of the 16th century Falkland Palace. The palace was the main residence of the old Royal family of Scotland, the Stewarts (Stuarts), but at this time of year another of the palace’s famous residents draws guests from far and wide. As you tour the palace, keep your wits about you while walking the Tapestry Gallery, which legends say is home to the ghost of a Grey Lady, who is awaiting her husband, a soldier who left for war and never returned. The St Andrews & the Fishing Villages of Fife tour departs from Edinburgh 7 days a week, with prices starting at £48 per person.
Monsters on the Moors of Southern England
The southwest coast of England is renowned for its stunning beauty, fascinating history, and terrifying myths. Do monsters really lurk on the desolate moors when the sun sets? Are the legends that inspire feats of heroism and bravery to this day true? In the reaches of southwest England, who knows what you will find?
On the Rabbie’s 5-day Devon & Cornwall tour, visit the mysterious spiritual site of the neolithic Stone Henge. Many have wondered the purpose of these mighty, lonely stones. Journey to the remote wilderness of Dartmoor, home to inspirational legends and ghastly ghost stories. Will you see pixies dancing or will you witness the large black hounds hunting across the foggy moors? Perhaps you’ll meet the cursed spirit of Lady Howard or the Devil – who is known for visiting the area. At Clapper Bridge, beware of the ghostly bloodhound who crosses the bridge to return home. Scale Glastonbury Tor, home of the mythical kingdom of Avalon and the legend of Prince Arthur. Recharge in beautiful Bath and explore the heritage of this old and beautiful city. The Rabbie’s 5-day Devon and Cornwall tour departs from London twice a week with prices starting at £330 per person.

But this year, why not invest in something that will light up your Halloween party, but that will also continue being fun once Halloween is over? We’re talking about the Geomag Glow construction sets. Suitable for all ages above 3, the Geomag Glow sets are not only a great decoration and conversation starter for your Halloween party, but also an important opportunity to gain a better grasp on the world of physics and magnetics.
Geomag Glow consists of three sets of different sizes of glow-in-the-dark natural magnetic rods. These rods can be arranged in any shape or structure that lights the imagination. Because of their lightweight design, and flexible nature, you can arrange your Geomag set anywhere in the room. You can, if you like, even arrange them into something spooky, or exciting like a ghost, a skull, or even a zombie. The sky, or rather your imagination, is the limit here.
How do Geomag Glow sets work?
So, how exactly are these magnetic rods powered, and why do they glow in the dark? Well, that’s both educational and exciting about the Geomag Glow sets is that they are made from 100% recycled materials, that are also 100% natural. As such, they work by capturing the natural light of the sun, throughout the day, and then using that to light up in the dark.
Because Geomag Glow sets use solar power to function, they will not drive up your electricity bills. For the same reason, Geomag sets are also great news for the environment, and if you’re concerned with reducing your carbon footprint, Geomag proves you can have a fun and exciting party without damaging the environment.
Since Geomag sets are solar-powered, it’s best to leave them out in a well-lit spot during the day, so that they can capture enough sunlight to last through your party.
Kids parties or adults? Why not both?
Because it’s marketed for all ages, sometimes people will assume Geomag sets are a toy, and as such, ideal for children. However, the truth is more versatile and complex than that. Geomag Glow harnesses solar power to allow you to unleash your imagination, and create glow-in-the-dark constructions, after your craziest, most fun ideas.
As such, they can’t be aimed solely at children, or adults, because there is no singular age where imagination stops.
Geomag Glow is suitable not only for children but also for adults. Both children and grown-ups can learn a great deal from these fun construction sets. For children, Geomag sets serve as a great introduction to the STEM program (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). Since the Geomag Glow sets use natural power, they can also be used by parents or educators to teach children about their environment, green sources of power, and all these other subjects that have become so pressing in our modern world.
And perhaps adults could use a lesson in that, as well.
Spooky Geomag Halloween
What makes the Geomag Glow sets great as a Halloween party decoration (or even a Halloween gift, for some) is the eerie green light that emanates from the magnetic pieces. This helps design a monochrome construction that looks like something out of Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory.
And while the color itself is not so overpowering that it would be inappropriate through the rest of the year, it’s just green and icky enough to look like it belongs at a Halloween party. Or as a Halloween gift.
For parents, this is an excellent way to get their children excited about basic STEM principles without it looking like they’re giving them a “school” gift. Because no kid is going to want a toy that makes them learn. They’re going to want a toy that’s fun, and weird, and kind of looks like it was made from an eerie green gloop. Luckily, the Geomag Glow sets can do both, which makes them the ideal Halloween gift for your child.
What are the choices?
Geomag Glow sets come in three different options, differentiated by their complexity and number of pieces. First, you’ve got the basic Geomag Glow 25, then the slightly more complex Geomag Glow 42, and lastly, the Geomag Glow 60.
If this is your or your child’s first time with a Geomag set, the 25 might be a good place to start and get a grasp of basic STEM concepts, without being too challenging. If you’re more experienced or want to craft a complex Halloween decoration from them, then Geomag Glow 60 may be more appropriate for you. Each set can be joined together with other Glows or even other Geomag sets.
Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong with Geomag Glow this Halloween!
The Geomag Glow 25 costs £19.99 from toysrus.co.uk
The Geomag Glow 42 costs £34.99 from The Entertainer
The Geomag Glow 60 costs £39 from Coolshop.co.uk
– Outdoor decorations will really ramp up your Halloween party!
Using outdoor decorations will work as a great pinpoint to your guests so they don’t get lost, but they are also a welcoming invitation for all those devilish trick-or-treaters. A great way to do this is with cardboard. Cut them into a gravestone shape, paper mâché, and paint them. Place them in your front garden or lawn as a ghoulishly good beacon!
– Serve frighteningly good food!
If you are hosting a party this year and want to serve your guest’s food, why not choose a charcuterie board with a twist? By using (a toy) skeleton you can arrange many types of food in or on top of your spooky host! By using different meats, you can drape the meat over the bones to create a creepily creative food platter! Don’t forget you can also use a skeleton to fill with treats, such as crackers, cheese, or candy.
– Go creepy with a Halloween tree!
Yes, a Halloween tree. You can decorate it with Halloween-inspired baubles and black and orange tinsel to create a spooktacular feature piece! You could choose a black tree and adorn it with purple, green, and orange decorations in the form of Halloween baubles, store-bought or handmade! And of course, coloured tinsel. This is a great way to involve all the family in preparing and designing the decorations.
– Get spooky with a Halloween-themed wall mural
Whether you are throwing a Halloween party or simply entertaining a few friends with a scary movie and some snacks, you can set the scene with a You can choose from mysteriously misty forests, ghoulish ghost trains, or pumpkin graveyards to name but a few! This way you can instantly set the scene for your monster bash as a creepy mural is one of the ultimate Halloween party decorations!
Another ghoulishly great aspect of this wallpaper is that is available as peel and stick – meaning you are able to remove it from your wall once all your creepy guests have escaped for the night! All you have to do is make sure your wall is correctly prepared before you apply it. It’s that easy you’ll want to throw a Halloween bash every day!
Spooky doggy duos: 6 Halloween costumes for you and your dog
Whether you’re a fan of all things spooky or you just enjoy dressing up, October 31st is sure to be a day you love. There are plenty of ways to get creative with your Halloween costume, including coordinating it with your friends or family to create a group costume. If you’re looking for an especially cute companion this year, why not get your furry friend involved?
You can get your dog involved with your Halloween costume in a variety of different ways. To give you some inspiration, the pet care experts Webbox have shared six fun duo costumes for you and your dog to dress up as this Halloween.
It’s important to note that you should only dress up your dog if they appear to enjoy it. If your pet is trying to shake the costume off or they start to gnaw at it, this is a sign that they are uncomfortable and you should remove it immediately. Fortunately, some of the costumes in this list require little to no extras for your pet, so even the dogs who don’t enjoy getting dressed up can get involved.
Little Red Riding Hood and Grandma
One of the scariest fairy tales also provides inspiration for one of the best pet and owner Halloween costumes. In this frightening story, the big, bad wolf successfully disguises himself as Little Red Riding Hood’s grandmother by tucking himself up in bed and wearing her night cap. You can make your dog look the part by simply dressing them in a night cap or frilly bonnet, or even a grey perm wig. A red dress and red cloak with a hood are all you need for Little Red Riding Hood’s costume, but you can carry a picnic basket if you’re looking to include the smaller details.
If you want to switch roles, this can easily be done too! Simply dress your pooch up in a red dog raincoat with a hood to turn them into Little Red Riding Hood, and dress yourself up as the grandmother in her night gown and cap, with a small pair of wire reading glasses to complete the look.
Scooby Doo and Shaggy
This is a great last minute Halloween costume, and ideal for dogs who don’t enjoy getting dressed up. While this costume of course works best for Great Danes, any dog can join in by simply wearing the iconic cartoon pup’s signature collar. If you already have a blue collar for your pet, all you need to do is buy a name tag with the initials “SD” on it. And to achieve Shaggy’s look, simply wear a pair of brown trousers and an oversized green t-shirt.
The great thing about this costume is that it works as both a duo and a group look. You can invite friends and family to join in by dressing up as Fred, Daphne, and Velma, and if you have another small dog, you can even dress them up as Scrappy Doo who wears the same collar as Scooby.
Dustin and a demodog
After the release of season four, we’ll no doubt see lots of Stranger Things inspired costumes this Halloween. If you’re looking to get your pet involved, there’s no better way to do so than by dressing them up as a demodog. There are demodog costumes for dogs available to buy online, and you may even be able to find them in your local costume shop too.
There are lots of different Stranger Things characters you can choose to dress up as alongside your demodog, but the best choice would be Dustin, who had a pet demodog of his own named Dart. You can dress as Dustin by wearing a yellow and green cap, an orange t-shirt, a denim vest jacket, green shorts, and white trainers.
Dorothy and Toto
While it isn’t a scary film, there are certainly frightening parts to The Wizard of Oz, and it includes one of the most iconic dog and owner duos, Dorothy and Toto. This is a great option for people with dogs who don’t enjoy dressing up, as there’s no costume involved whatsoever. However, Toto is a very small terrier, so you may find it more difficult to recreate this duo with a larger dog. If this is the case, you can dress your furry friend up as the cowardly lion instead! All your pet needs for this look is a lion mane, which you will easily be able to find online and in costume shops.
Fortunately, dressing up as Dorothy is pretty easy too. Simply have your hair in pigtails and wear a blue gingham dress, and of course, the iconic sparkly red shoes.
Cruella de Vil and a dalmatian
An iconic Disney villain and an enemy of dogs, dressing up as Cruella de Vil is the perfect way to get your pooch involved with your outfit. If you have a dalmatian, this is by far one of the easiest costumes as you don’t need to dress your pet up at all. And if your dog isn’t a dalmatian, you only need one item to dress them up: a dog jumper with dalmatian print on it. If you already have a white dog jumper which isn’t worn often, you can even create your own by sewing small circles of black felt to it.
When it comes to dressing up as Cruella, you’ll need a long black dress, a white fluffy jacket (extra points if you can get one in dalmatian print), and the iconic black and white wig. If you’re looking to include the smaller touches, add a pair of silk red gloves to the outfit.
Pennywise and Georgie
If you’re looking to be particularly scary, this is the perfect duo costume for you and your pet. It is one of the scariest horror films around, and no doubt the reason behind many people’s clown phobias! To dress up as this duo, all your dog needs is a yellow raincoat from the iconic scene where Georgie is dragged through the gutter by Pennywise.
As it’s a popular Halloween costume, you shouldn’t find it difficult to find a Pennywise outfit. But if you already happen to have a clown costume and you’re looking to save some money, simply wear this outfit and use face paint to recreate his terrifying look.
“Halloween is a fun holiday for the whole family, and that can go for your pets too! The good news is that everyone can enjoy dressing up this Halloween as long as you keep a watchful eye over your pets. Only dress a dog up in a costume if they don’t appear to mind. If they don’t enjoy wearing anything other than a collar, there are plenty of iconic duo costumes which don’t even require your dog to dress up, so go for one of these options instead.
“If you do choose to give your dog an outfit, make sure that it doesn’t restrict their sight and that there are no choking hazards. If the outfit involves putting something around your pets neck, always make sure that it isn’t too tight so that their breathing isn’t restricted in any way.
“You should also make sure that your pet stays safe around Halloween decorations and sweets. If you have a candle in a pumpkin, make sure to keep this out of your pet’s reach and never leave them in a room unattended with one burning. Don’t forget to store your Halloween sweets in an area where your pet can’t get to as well, and avoid leaving any lying around the house.”

This year, let’s make Halloween good, old-fashioned fun!
Halloween, 31st October, is falling out of favour with some parents who say it has become too commercial and ‘Americanized’. But, as Catherine Lynch of education experts PlanBee says, there are some great traditional entertainments to mark the occasion
What’s it all about?
The tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, an ancient Celtic pagan religious festival that marks the end of the harvest and the start of winter. The celebrations included people lighting bonfires and wearing costumes to ward off ghosts. This festival is thought to date back to neolithic times, pre 2500 BC.
In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III decided 1st November should be a time to honour all saints. The evening before All Saints Day was known as All Hallows’ Eve, and later Halloween. All Hallows’ Eve, is a Christian religious observance that includes going to church and lighting candles on the graves of the dead. Traditionally Christians didn’t eat meat on this day and Potato Pancakes were a popular choice of food.
Over time, Halloween became the more commercial and secular celebration we have today that includes trick-or-treating, carving pumpkins, wearing costumes and eating treats.
Covid’s still lurking
With Covid infection rates rising once again, we should be mindful that some adults, especially elderly people and those with underlying health conditions, may not be enthusiastic about children calling on them for Trick or Treat.
Why not organise a Halloween trail instead?. Rather than knocking door to door, why not take your children on a trail, too? If you’d like to take part in one, or organise your own, you could put this spooky picture in your window.
Take your children on walks around your local area and see how many Halloween pictures you can spot. You could give your child the chance to pick a treat from your own selection each time they spot a picture on the Halloween treasure hunt.
Whatever you do, have fun!

Halloween: Why do we love being scared?
Plus expert picks: Top 11 films to watch this spooky season.
Halloween, the spookiest time of the year, is almost upon us. Carving bizarre faces into pumpkins, dressing-up in creepy costumes and watching the scariest movies we can bear are just some of Halloween’s most fun (?) traditions.
But, why do we enjoy being scared, and why do we love watching scary movies?
One of the first recognisable horror films was made 100 years ago, in 1922, it’s a genre that has definitely stood the test of time.
We asked Horror film boffin from the world famous MetFilm School, Pete Appleyard for his thoughts, he told us:
“It’s a pretty common question for horror fans, why do you like horror movies? Some people love to be scared, some love buckets of fake blood and the visceral thrill of the horror FX.
“For others it’s the fun of narratives that are not confined by the limitations of ‘real life’ and can go anywhere and do anything.
“At its best (and often at its worst) horror is diverse genre that can be made anywhere by anyone. It can be romantic, tragic, hilarious or have you on the edge of your seat. As the late, great Wes Craven once said “Horror films don’t’ create fear. They release it”.
“Perhaps that’s why we love them so much, it’s a safe way of confronting our fears.”
With that in mind, we asked Pete to share his top 11 recommendations of the best spine-chilling Horror films from around the world to help us scare ourselves silly this Halloween.
So, grab the snacks and remote (and a fluffy cushion to hide behind) and settle down for Pete’s macabre movie marathon…
To start with, the one where it all began…
1. Nosferatu – 1922
This early, unofficial adaptation of Dracula by F.W Murnau still holds every bit of its gothic power 100 years after it was made. It’s filled with iconic gothic imagery and features an amazing central performance by stage actor Max Schreck as the terrifying Count Orlock (who’s name translates as Max Fear). It also works as a wonderful introduction to silent film for those new to early cinema.

2. The Phantom of the Opera – 1925
This lavish production of Gaston Leroux’s novel marked a few important firsts for the horror genre. It was Universal studios first full-blown horror film, a genre they would go on to define in the 30s. It was a huge break out role for actor Lon Chaney who played the role of the Phantom in terrifying and physically torturous make up. However, the films biggest legacy is probably its Paris opera house set which remained standing on the Universal lot until 2014 and appeared in 100s of films and TV shows.

3. Dracula– 1931
Tod Browning’s screen adaptation of the Bram Stoker novel feels rather slow and quint by today’s standards but there is still a great deal of power to this slow burning gothic horror. Karl Freund’s expressionistic cinematography create some of the most striking cinematic images from the 1930’s and Bela Lugosi’s performance as Dracula is beyond iconic. Coming just 9 months before Universal’s Frankenstein, Dracula paved the way for Hollywood’s golden era of monsters.

4. Dead of Night – 1945
One of the few Horror films produced at Ealing Studios during its golden era, Dead of Night is one of the earliest examples of the Horror Anthology film. Essentially a collection of short films linked together by a wraparound story, the anthology format became a staple of British horror films through to the 70’s and 80’s but rarely was it done as well as here. The scenes of Michael Redgrave being menaced by an evil ventriloquist dummy remain terrifying to this day.

5. The Quatermass Xperiment – 1955
Whilst Hammer films would go on to have huge success re-adapting the classic monsters of the 30’s with their own Dracula, Frankenstein & Mummy franchises, It’s this film version of the BBC sci-fi serial that marks the true beginning of ‘Hammer Horror’. The story of British astronauts returning to earth with an alien parasite was massively ahead of its time in the 50’s and shocked audiences with its brooding atmosphere and sudden bursts of violence. Hammer wore its ‘X’ rating with pride by incorporating it into the title.

6. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre – 1974
‘Who will survive and what will be left of them?’ asks the tag line for this grindhouse classic from Tobe Hooper. Banned for decades in the UK, Texas Chainsaw remains a uniquely powerful film. More refined and realistic than similar films such a ‘Last house on the left’, all of TCM’s scares come the relentless atmosphere and terrifying antagonist. Tellingly, there is almost no blood in the film but after leaving the cinema you feel like you have witnessed a slaughter.

7. Nightmare on Elm Street – 1984
The horror boom of the 80’s gave birth to a number of new horror icons but king amongst them has to be Wes Craven’s ultimate boogie man Freddy Kruger. A killer who stalks you in your dreams, Kruger was brought to life by the classically trained Robert Englund. Whilst the sequels are imaginative and fun it’s the original film that has all the scares, including a very gory encounter with a young Jonny Depp.

8. The Ring – 1999
The late 90’s saw and explosion in new Japanese horror cinema and the most terrifying of all has to be The Ring. The set up is simple, once you have watched the cursed VHS tape you have 7 days to live unless you pass the curse onto another. Blending MR James with Japanese folk law, The Ring is a slow burn of a film with an explosive and horrifying final. Forget the watered down American remake and numerous sequels, the original is the real deal.

9. [REC] – 2007
This low budget Spanish zombie film breathed new life into the ‘found footage’ genre when it was released in the mid 2000’s. It’s the story of a small TV crew following a group of firefighters on an emergency call to an apartment building. The films simple set up, engaging characters and claustrophobic sets build to one of the most horrifying ‘what did I just see?’ endings in horror history. All in a lean 78 minutes.

10. Under the Shadow – 2016
Set in Tehran in the mid 1980’s, this war time ghost story is harrowing tale of a mother and her daughter trying to survive the oppression of a terrifying Djinn during a missile strike. Iranian-bord director Babak Anvari dials up the tension to an almost unbearable level in the final act whilst deftly balancing the scares with political commentary in the vein of George R. Romero.
Trailer:www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHVFP80Upxw
11. Censor – 2021
Set in the 80’s during the video nasty scare which saw countless horror films banned and re-cut in the UK, Censor is both a celebration of those forbidden and maligned works whilst telling its own dark parable about censorship and who gets a say in what we watch. Director (and MetFilm School tutor) Prano Bailey-Bonddelivers one of the smartest horror movies about horror since Wes Craven’s Scream whilst also delivering enough gore and shocks to make the 80s proud.

This year, the OG Prince of Darkness, Count Dracula returned to cinema screens – as the 1992 film Bram Stoker’s Dracula was re-released, to mark its 30th anniversary.
Starring Gary Oldman, Winona Ryder, Keanu Reeves, and Sir Anthony Hopkins, this iconic horror won three Academy Awards.

Pennywise
Apparently, roughly one in 10 people suffer from coulrophobia, or fear of clowns.
We’d wager that most, if not all of these cases, are because of Pennywise – the terrifying evil clown entity from Stephen King’s novel IT.
Pennywise was portrayed by Bill Skarsgård in the latest film adaption of the book, but first the villain was immortalised by Tim Curry in a 1990 miniseries.
This Halloween, you can bring this creepy clown to life.
• Mens Adults Pennywise Clown Suit, £28.99 – Buy from OnBuy
Squid Game
Squid Game took the world by storm when it debuted on Netflix last year.
The South Korea survival thriller was an instant hit with audiences, and produced many meme-afied moments.

Cher from Clueless

Arguably the iconic outfits from the iconic 90’s film, Clueless is a coming of age movie starring Alicia Silverstone as wealthy high schooler Cher Horowitz.
Cher’s yellow chequered jacket and skirt combo is a cultural touchstone for 90’s kids – and has been referenced in music videos, TV shows, and beyond.
