Half-term recipe inspiration from HERTA

Puff pastry pizza
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: Around 15 minutes
Ingredients:
Ready rolled puff pastry
Tomato or pizza sauce
Grated cheese (cheddar and/or mozzarella is best)
A pack of Herta frankfurters
Egg or milk for a glaze
Method:
Pre-heat the oven according to the instructions on the puff pastry packet. Unroll the sheet of puff pastry, keeping it on the greaseproof paper.
Get the frankfurter sausages and line the edges of the pastry with them, leaving a gap in each corner.
Roll the frankfurters in the pastry to form a crust and use the egg or milk wash to brush where the pastry joins to keep it in place, and on the crusts for a golden finish.
Spread the pizza or tomato sauce on the pastry for the base and top with cheese and any more of your favourite pizza toppings.
Bake as instructed on the pastry packaging, or until the pastry looks nicely puffed with a golden-brown colour.
Frankfurter fajita tacos

Frankfurter kebabs
Preparation time: 15 minutes
Cooking time: Around 15 minutes depending on method
Ingredients:
One red pepper
A pack of cherry tomatoes
On red onion
A pack of Herta frankfurters
A pack of halloumi cheese
Kebab skewers
Method:
Chop all ingredients to 2-3cm squares or similar.
Get your kids to join in and assemble your kebabs by piercing the items onto the skewers and mixing up the order.
Heat up your grill or barbeque and cook the ingredients for 15 to 20 minutes until ‘charred’.
Add a side of your favourite dip or drizzle with sauce for extra flavour.
Nachos with cajun spiced frankfurter

Nacho regular hot dog

Ingredients:
Hot dog buns – opt for brioche for a unique taste
A pack of Herta frankfurters
Pack of nachos
Grated cheese
Method:
Boil the frankfurters as per the cooking instructions.
Slice the hot dogs buns through the top and open slightly.
Put the frankfurters in the hot dog bun and dress with your favourite sauce.
Crumble nachos on the frankfurter in the bun and sprinkle on the grated cheese.
Place on a baking tray under the grill for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese.
Smokey BBQ hot dog pizza
Preparation time: 5 minutes

Easy pea-sy mac and cheesy

Ingredients:
Jar of cheese sauce
Grated cheese
Pasta of your choice
A pack of Herta frankfurters
Frozen peas
Method:
Cook the pasta according to the cooking instructions.
Boil the frankfurters as per the cooking instructions and then chop them into slices or chunks.
Mix the cooked pasta in with the cheese sauce, frankfurters and peas.
Top with the grated cheese and place under the grill for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese – add crumbled nachos and cheese for an added crunch.
Spicy rice with frankfurter

Frankfurter noodles
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 10 minutes
Ingredients:
A bell pepper of your choice
A pack of Herta frankfurters
A pack of noodles (add as many as required depending on the number of people)
A stir fry sauce of your choice, e.g. hoisin, sweet chilli or teriyaki.
Method:
Cook noodles to the instructions on the packet.
Chop the bell pepper into strips and slice up the frankfurters.
Add a drizzle of oil to a pan and fry off the bell pepper for a couple of minutes.
Add the chopped frankfurters to the frying pan and fry off for a couple of minutes
Add the stir fry sauce of your choice and mix in the noodles.
