Grosvenor 2nd XV secured their 3rd league title in a row with an emphatic 82-33 victory over Instonians 4s at Shaws Bridge on a balmy spring evening.

However it was the home side that scored first to take a 7-0 lead and the large band of Grosvenor supporters could be forgiven for thinking that things may not go according to the script. But this young Grosvenor side took control and blew Instonians away with a display of attacking rugby, executed at blistering pace. Peter Dawson led the pack admirably, aided and abetted by veteran James Senior and youngsters Conor, Foster and Harland. In the backs Richy Henning and Burkey at half-back ran the show bringing Jamie White and Bondy on to the ball to expose gaps in the home side’s defence and spinning the ball wide to use the pace of Lambo, Dee and Quinner.

There were many, many excellent tries scored including five from Quinner but fair play to Instonians who never gave up and scored three fine tries of their own at the end.
A marvellous achievement and well done to all the players who represented Grosvenor 2s this season and especially to coach Gareth Bronte who prepared and led his troops magnificently. We wish Gareth every success when he takes up the reigns as Head Coach at Lurgan next season.
