This match started at 100mph as both sides threw the ball about in the balmy autumn sunshine. It was obvious from the outset that ‘Clare were a useful side but some committed tackling by Grosvenor disrupted their attacks and presented the home side with some great counter attacking opportunities. From one such turnover Grosvenor spread the ball in the backs and some good interpassing allowed Goony to dive over in the corner. 5-0.

Yep, you guessed it the ‘Clare kicker slotted it over from the touchline. 21-5. Grosvenor fought back well and when they moved the ball in the backs they always looked dangerous. From a breakdown on half-way the ball was whipped wide to Stevie on the left wing who scorched in from forty metres for a great try. Bizzarrely the conversion attempt in front of the posts was charged down by ‘Clare to deny the the extras. 21-10. Grosvenor appeared to be tiring as the game approached the final quarter and the tackling became looser, allowing ‘Clare to break through for two more fairly soft tries which were converted to extend their lead to 35-10. In the dying minutes Lylo dived over under the posts to give the Grosvenor supporters something to cheer about. Final score 35-17.
