Buoyed by their victory over league leaders UUC last week Grosvenor put in another top drawer performance to take the points at Enniskillen.

Conditions were wet underfoot with a slight breeze favouring the home side in the first half. There was little opportunity to spread the ball to the backs and Grosvenor just shaded things in what was a contest of pick and go forward rugby. Matty Little converted a long range penalty to give Grosvenor the lead but in the dying minutes of the half Enniskillen mounted an onslaught on the Grosvenor line which was repelled for a full five minutes through some heroic tackling but Enniskillen just managed to squeeze in at the corner to take a slender 5-3 lead into the break.

Grosvenor started the second half strongly Little soon restored the lead with another well struck penalty 6-5. After ten minutes prop Simon Fullerton popped up in the backline on the twenty two and barged through several tacklers before crashing over for a try. Conversion added 13-5. Ten minutes later Matty Little gathered a high kick at fullback and shimmied his way through the onrushing Enniskillen players making twenty five metres before off-loading to second row Peter Dawson who sprinted in like a gazelle from twenty metres out for a great try in the right hand corner. 18-5. Enniskillen fought back strongly and pounded the Grosvenor line for the last ten minutes when again some herculean defence kept them at bay with the home side again only managing to squeeze in at the corner in the last minute for a try. Final score 18-10.

A great performance from Grosvenor who have now registered five wins from their last six league outings and who are growing in confidence and composure with each victory. It would be fitting to award the pack collectively man-of-the match this week with excellent performances from Hill, Cartmill, Fullerton, Culbert, Graham, Kelly and Stoops but Peter Dawson just shades it for his outstanding athleticism and commitment around the park.
