Today, twenty Great Ormond Street Hospital patients, siblings and friends entered the world of top rugby players, when the Saracens invited them to a training day at Wollam Playing Fields in St Albans.

The sporting stars helped the youngsters to prepare for the RBC Race for the Kids 5k family fun run on 24 June, which will raise vital funds for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity.

To kick off the day the group of Great Ormond Street Hospital patients, brothers, sisters and friends got an exclusive tour of the ground and watched the rugby heroes train with their coaches. Later, they were invited on to the pitch for a series of fun training sessions.

Many of the participants will be taking part in the RBC Race for the Kids 5k family fun run on Sunday 24th June 2012, in London’s Battersea Park. To sign up, visit www.raceforthekids.co.uk

Money raised from the RBC Race for the Kids 5k family fun run will help fund the essential redevelopment of Great Ormond Street Hospital and make a difference to the thousands of sick children who are treated at the hospital every year.

Saracens fly-half and centre player, Owen Farrell said, “The patients who went along to the training session today were all winners and we were bowled over by their enthusiasm to get stuck in and have lots of fun. The RBC Race for the Kids run in June represents the real challenge – which is to raise money towards the essential redevelopment of Great Ormond Street Hospital so it can continue its superb work.”
