31 January 2013: Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky presented a much-needed boost to the funds of military charity Help for Heroes, in the form of a cheque for ￡15,000.
Glengoyne raised the money through two exclusive events, which were staged last year in partnership with 1879 Events: the inaugural Glengoyne Auld Enemy Dinner at The Balmoral on the eve of the Calcutta Cup on 3 February, the world’s oldest international rugby fixture and the Glengoyne Auld Enemy Golf Day, a Scotland vs. England tournament, which took place at Fairmont St Andrews in August.
Ian Macleod Distillers, owners of the Glengoyne brand, also launched the Glengoyne Auld Enemy Dram, a Limited Edition 1990 Single Cask last year. Proceeds from the sale of this commemorative bottling supported Help for Heroes.
Alan Wardrop, UK Sales Manager for Ian Macleod Distillers, presented the cheque to Major (Retd) Tim Grantham on behalf of Help for Heroes, at the Dreghorn Barracks in Edinburgh home to The Royal Scots Borderers, 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland (1 SCOTS).

“Following the success of the 2012 Glengoyne Auld Enemy Dinner in Edinburgh, we are pleased to be hosting an another fundraising Dinner at Dorchester Hotel in London on 1 February and are confident that we will raise significant funds for Help for Heroes.”

The money raised will help transform the lives of our injured that have experienced life changing injuries and provide support for their families. The 2013 Glengoyne Auld Enemy Dinner is being held at The Dorchester Hotel in London on Friday 1 February 2013. The distinguished Lt General Gordon Messenger DSO OBE ADC is Guest of Honour on the night, having served as British Commander in Helmand Province from 2008 to 2009 and as a Colonel during the Iraq War. He has recently been promoted to Deputy Commander NATO Land Command and he will be supported by Captain Chris Moore RM.
A host of internationalists from the current rugby era and past stars including Gary Armstrong, Matt Dawson and Martin Johnson will also be in attendance. The event will raise money via a live and silent auction, hosted by the UK’s top auctioneer Jonny Gould.
