Tickets will not be sold on a first come, first served basis – oversubscribed matches and price categories will go to ballot to ensure fair allocation.

The sale will operate on an easy-to-use ticketing platform – HERE. A number of tools have been introduced to help fans, including ‘Match Manager’, allowing fans to limit their spend by submitting an application for several matches but capping the number of matches they can be allocated. Fans can also opt to be allocated tickets at the next highest price category in the event that tickets at their selected category are oversubscribed or unavailable. Use of both tools is optional.

Rugby World Cup Limited Chairman Bernard Lapasset said: “September is a very special date for Rugby and major event fans as it represents the opportunity to be a part of what will be a very special celebration of the Game and the host nation as fans look forward to experiencing one of the world’s most popular major events.”

Debbie Jevans, CEO of England Rugby 2015, said: “We are about to embark on an exciting period in the build-up to Rugby World Cup 2015, as tickets go on general sale next month. The tournament is now just over one year away and the Rugby world is counting down to Rugby World Cup 2015.

“The application window will be open from September 12-29, 2014 and fans can create a ticketing account and start planning their tournament. We have worked hard to develop a ticketing system which makes the application process easy and efficient, and offers flexibility to fans.

“Prices start at £15 for adults and £7 for children. With 13 match venues situated in host cities all over England and in Cardiff, it’s a great opportunity for the whole nation to watch the best teams in the world compete for Rugby’s most prestigious prize.”

Lapasset added: “As we rapidly approach the one-year-to-go milestone, preparation is on track to deliver a very special and record-breaking tournament that is great for Rugby and the host nation and has players and fans at heart.”

In October, fans will be informed of which tickets they have been successful in purchasing. Any remaining tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis from November.

To avoid ticket fraud, fans must only buy from official sources. Only tickets purchased HERE or through official travel and hospitality providers will guarantee entry to RWC 2015 matches. England Rugby 2015 will launch an official RWC 2015 resale platform next year to enable customers to sell any unwanted tickets at face value.

The general sale follows the successful Rugby community ticket sales campaign in England and Wales in May, which saw a huge interest. This followed the launch of official supporter tour packages and official hospitality packages, which opened at the start of the year and is tracking at a record sales pace.
