“Hi, Danny was a prop who played for Portadown 1st xv, he worked for PWC in belfast and drove us up and down to training and to matches for years whilst we were students. Blind as a bat and followed the sound on pitch to get to next ruck. A real genius who could speak several languages and loved the craic, loved guinness and putting people ties in it. A big man with a big heart who survived a broken neck and returned to play with 3 vertabrae welded together, went onto survive cancer before moving to Bermuda . There he met kathy and and eventually married her, she will be over for the day. There are many stories about Danny but you would need to be there on the day to hear them all, lets just say we had some pretty good times and long journeys home from trips down south. A real character who typified what rugby was all about, worked hard played hard and partied hard, someone you could trust and rely on and a great friend with a never say die attitude. Proud to have played with him and toured with him. Very fond memories.” Phillip Orr
