Five Top Tips for How to Prep Your Skin for Waxing this Summer

* Stay out of the Sun

Summer is the time to be enjoying the outside and getting a good dose of vitamin D. However, if we want a flawless wax we must protect our skin from the sun. Exposure can cause sensitivity and lead to
hyperpigmentation or burns. Make sure to put on plenty of SPF which blocks UVA and UVB sun rays and stay in the shade. Never apply sun cream on the day you have your wax appointment. This will affect the
results of your wax. Wearing light loose trousers or a long flowing skirt to protect legs from being exposed to the sun. Comfortable light clothing is important to prep the skin as well as to feel comfortable
after your wax.

* Cleansing Ritual

Having a cleansing ritual before your wax is so important. Washing our bodies before waxing cleans the surface of the skin from any bacteria that may be lurking. Using a body scrub with thick grains in
is most effective to remove dead skin cells before a wax. Using cleansing products and body scrubs that have no chemicals in is important for your skin health as this will prevent the skin from
drying out, which can cause skin irritation and spots. Pat your skin dry and don’t apply moisturiser as this acts as a barrier on the
skin and will affect your wax results. Moisturise every day before the day of your wax.

* Light Relief

Where focus goes, energy flows. If you’re a sensitive soul to waxing and you are dreading your wax appointment, take control and be mindful to focus on the smooth skin you will have after your
treatment. Think about how waxing makes you feel after and the main reasons why you do it! Another idea is to take a mild pain killer like ibuprofen 20 minutes before your wax appointment. You may take
antihistamines in the summer to help with bug bits and hay fever and they can also be effective to take before a wax appointment. Take them on the day of your wax appointment.

* Stay Cool

It is important to keep your skin cool before a wax. Stay indoors or in the shade. Hot skin can cause irritation and spots. Sweat on the skin’s surface can prevent the wax from coating the hairs. Book enough
time out for your wax appointment so you’re not rushing. Take this time out as your special time for self-care and remember to rebook your wax before leaving your appointment.

* Let Hair Grow

Waxing regularly every 4 weeks reduces hair growth. While in the summer months in between waxes you will find your hair has become finer. The hair should reach at least ¼ inch long before it can be
waxed to ensure it is completely removed from the root. It’s important not to rush the process and follow all the steps to get flawless skin. This will give you more confidence during the summer months.

Whether you are getting ready to go on holiday or spending a day at the beach, following these tips will enhance your beauty routine and help avoid any mishaps! Taking care of our skin should be a priority
and it doesn’t have to be complicated or costly. Summer is the time to feel good about ourselves and investing time into your wax routine will help you accomplish just that.
