Finally the opportunity to cover Lisburn Youth who were entertaining Monaghan Youth. We have not made it to either clubs to cover then yet so we were looking forward to finding out more and getting a feel youth rugby at both these clubs.
We managed to get 55 picutres CLICK HERE and below are some videos from both sides and interviews with coaches and the referee.
We arrived at 11ish thinking we may have been late as we saw families escorting players home. It turns out like many clubs youth rugby had begun at 9am at Lisburn but we were not too late to see the games between Lisburn & Monaghan.
Good numbers from both sides.
Lisburn struggled at times and Monaghan were very good. Without taking anything away from Monaghan, Lisburn U15s started this season with 4 or 5 players! They have steadily grown their numbers to 15. The conviction and passion for what they are doing is nothing less than what is displayed throughout rugby. All credit to everyone at Lisburn who are contributing to a youth section which is growing again.
Monaghan were a well drilled and coached club and they played very well. their forwards drew in the lisburn defence and the backs picked their moments to exploit the space created on the wings.
Both teams scored and every minute these players spend on the park is building their knowledge and experience of the game.
Thansk to everyone for an excellent morning and we look forward to covering both clubs moving forward.
