A Great Success:
What a day of rugby for everyone at Grosvenor on Saturday the 20th Novemebr! The inaugural Four Nations Graham Cup was a great success with some excellent rugby from all the teams.
Its been quite a year for Grosvenor Grammar. the school moved into their new facilities in april. A 34 acre site, and new £18.5 million school! it is fantastic that the pupils now have world class facilities.
To quote the head, “Rugby football is such an integral part of this school….. the curriculum gives emphasisi to acaemic, social, aeshetic, moral and physical development and pupils are enabled to grow in self confidence throughout their years in the school.”
From what we have seen the staff and pupils are wholeheartedly embracing the potential of their new ficilities and the inaugural four Nations Graham Cup is an indication of the pride they have in their school and their deep attachment to rugby.
Named after Ian Graham, the former head of rugby at the school is the only Grosvenor Grammar School rugby coach, to date, to lead a Grosvenor side to the Schools Cup success, defeating RBAI at Ravenhill in 1983. Ian has also had a pivotal role in the development of rugby across the country, coaching Ulster schools between 1985-88 and his immense contribution to the sport was duly recognised in 2005/06 when he was appointed President of the Ulster Branch.
