Pictured – Enniskillen RFC’s new signed, New Zealander Clinton Brown receiving the keys to a car for the 2010/11 season from Gareth Nevin of Monaghan Brothers, Lisnaskea.
Clinton, an outhalf, has signed from his home club, Glenfield, part of the North Harbour provincial union, and ERFC President, Russell Shaw, said how delighted he was that Clinton decided to join the club after a short visit to Enniskillen in recent weeks, and the signing re-ignites a long association between the club and young players from New Zealand.
Russell also expressed his gratitude to Monaghan Brothers for continuing their support for the club in once again providing transport for the club’s overseas player.
Joining Clinton is Jamie Johnston who has re-signed for the club after a spell with AIL club Banbridge, and he was also welcomed by Russell who stressed how important it is for Enniskillen to try and retain their home grown talent, whilst recognising that it is difficult especially given the current economic uncertainty for students and graduates seeking employment in the Fermanagh area.
Clinton, Jamie and the rest of the club are continuing their pre-season build up and the First XV squad can be seen in action with friendlies in Sligo on August 14th before home fixtures against Ballina on August 21st (both 1st and 2nd XVs) and Tralee on August 28th on which date the 2nd XV will contest the annual Fletcher Pollock Cup against County Cavan RFC, venue yet to be finalised. All these matches lead up to the league campaigns which start on September 4th.
