On Friday evening, the newly reformed Enniskillen ladies youth team travelled to Armagh rugby club to round off their brief season with two games of tag-rugby against Armagh ladies youth and a cross community team from Monaghan.

The first game against Monaghan ended in a 3-3 draw, with each team taking it in turn to dive over the try line. Having only been playing together for three months, Enniskillen showed signs of nerves at the start however this quickly disappeared within a few minutes of the game. Skins made excellent phases of play, making full use of the playing field passing the ball through the hands out to wings Holly Bruce and Maeve Somerville for them both to score tries. A strong defence allowed the girls to turn over the ball a number of times and with quick thinking used by Alison Glass, she charged down the field offloading the ball to Lara Todd to dive over the line for the Skins third try. Skins let their heads drop briefly during the closing seconds of the game and Monaghan retaliated with a break away try to finish the game off with a satisfying draw.

The next game against Armagh was a tougher fixture with the Armagh side pressing forward from the start. Enniskillen however took initiative and quickly passed the ball out towards the wing for Victoria Martin to side step through a number of Armagh players to score the first try of the game. Armagh replied with some strong forward running and scored two breakaway tries to bring the score in their favour. In the final minutes of the game, Skins turned over the ball and sprinted for the try line just to be stopped a couple of metres short by a quick opposition defence but with excellent support play the ball was passed out to Claire Boles who dived over the try line to bring the final score to 2-2. All teams performed to their full potential which made the event thoroughly enjoyable and it was an excellent evening to wrap up the season. Enniskillen ladies youth rugby season restarts again in August with the intention of going into the contact side of the game.
