England Rugby 2015, Tournament Organisers for Rugby World Cup 2015, have appointed Unspun Creative and Kim Gavin to deliver the Rugby World Cup 2015 Opening Ceremony.

Kim Gavin has been the creative vision behind some of the most high profile performances and events in recent years, including the Take That Circus Tour, Concert for Diana at Wembley Stadium, Help for Heroes concert at Twickenham Stadium and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Closing Ceremonies.

Unspun Creative, led by Sara Donaldson OBE, set up and managed the production company that delivered all four Olympic and Paralympic Ceremonies, launched London Heathrow’s Terminal 2 and 5, and delivered  the Opening Ceremony of the Invictus Games. The appointments were made following a competitive tender process run by England Rugby 2015.

The Opening Ceremony will take place at 1900 (GMT) at Twickenham Stadium on September 18, 2015, ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2015 opening match between England and Fiji (KO 2000 GMT).

Debbie Jevans, England Rugby 2015 CEO, said, “We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Unspun Creative as the Creative Producers of our Opening Ceremony. Unspun has  a great track record of designing creative and inspiring shows and ceremonies and they will deliver a unique and engaging Opening Ceremony for Rugby World Cup 2015.  We look forward to announcing further details on the content and format of the opening ceremony next year.”

Following the sale of over 950,000 tickets through the September ballot, remaining tickets for Rugby World Cup 2015 are now on sale via tickets.rugbyworldcup.com. Tickets are also still available via the official travel (domestic and international) and hospitality programmes.
