ENGLAND COACH BACKS NATIONAL COACHING INITATIVE

Andy Farrell supports the QBE Coaching Club and My Coach Competition

As the England team prepare for a really important six months of international rugby, Andy Farrell, England Backs Coach went to Twickenham Stadium to meet the next generation of rugby coaches. Farrell met members of the QBE Coaching Club who have recently been through the Level 2 coaching course, to coach a touch rugby tournament– an event organised by QBE, the official insurance partner of England Rugby and title sponsor of the QBE Internationals.

While coaching alongside the QBE coaches, Farrell had the opportunity to reflect on the role of the QBE Coaching Club, a joint initiative between the RFU and QBE Insurance.. This initiative will see 2,015 new Level 2 rugby coaches recruited and trained by September 2015. The initiative has been established to ensure the game has enough quality coaches to welcome new players and encourage them to stay within the sport.

Andy Farrell said: “The QBE Coaching Club initiative is a great way of ensuring that the coaching infrastructure in rugby has enough support to cope with the influx of new players we anticipate getting for rugby after the World Cup. It’s been fantastic to meet the QBE coaches today and hear how they are coaching rugby in their local communities and inspiring the next generation of players across the country.”

As the initiative nears the 2,015 for 2015 target, QBE have launched My Coach, a national competition that looks to reward four coaches who have inspired and supported the success of amateur and professional players alike. Winners of the competition will receive a coaching session from a legendary rugby personality at their club as well as a place on the QBE Coaching Club, to become a Level 2 qualified coach.

Andy Farrell commented: “QBE My Coach is a great competition and I’d definitely encourage rugby clubs across the country to enter their inspirational coaches.. This is a fantastic way to support and recognise the impact that coaches can have in sustaining and developing participation in rugby at a grass roots level.”

Andy Farrell was representing England Rugby at an event hosted by QBE, the business insurance specialist and official insurance partner of England Rugby. To make a nomination and enter the QBE My Coach head to QBErugby.com
