Kukri Conference League
This game in the main was played in fine weather conditions. The heavier Limavady Pack was on top at the start and after ten minutes their number 8 went over for a try out wide.
0 – 5
However the more mobile Dungannon side went on the offensive from the restart. The gaps appeared and when the white booted Christopher Henderson chipped ahead Daryl Marshall ran onto the ball and carried it over for the try wide out.
5 – 5
Dungannon kept up the pressure and following several phases out half Henderson spread the ball wide. The move was carried on by the two Stuarts, Gilroy and Lester, and finished off by the supporting winger Alan Cummings who ran through to score under the posts. Chris Henderson converted on twenty minutes.

12 – 5
Dungannon then missed some opportunities through not being clinical enough with the final pass but after half an hour Chris Henderson increased the lead to ten points with a penalty.
15 – 5.
On the halftime whistle the game was marred somewhat by a serious ankle injury to a Limavady player.
There was a delay before the second half started and Dungannon skipper Simon Potter sportingly allowed Limavady to use a substitute (Subs are allowed in Qualifying League One but not in the Conference League).
Understandably play was a bit disjointed after the restart but was brought to life ten minutes in when Chris Henderson scored a great individual try that he also converted.
22 – 5.
Limavady responded and it took some good Dungannon defence especially from the back row of Todd, Marshall and McMahon to keep them at bay. Although Dungannon were starting to look dangerous again Limavady got the next score through an intercept try that was converted.
22 – 12
Shortly after this Limavady elected to take a penalty lineout from which they mauled over for a deserved try.
22 – 17.
Dungannon were in control for the final quarter and scored two more tries through Stuart Lester
32 – 17
In the final quarter Dungannon lost the services of Paul McCarroll and Limavady sportingly took a player off to even the numbers. There was no further scoring and Coach Mark Henderson was again impressed with his players, “We are playing a well controlled and free flowing game and the young players are developing well. I was particularly impressed with our captain Simon Potter’s decision to allow the Limavady substitute to come on after what was a serious injury. Simon is a true sportsman and a leader on the pitch. In similar circumstance many other captains would not have taken this sporting attitude.”
