A tour party of 30 members will be leaving Stevenson Park on Thursday 11th August set for New York and Boston embarking on the clubs first tour to the area since 1979, when the likes of Willie Anderson, Jimmy McCoy and last years President Stanley Turkington where amongst the touring party.
The playing party, of 22 players, begin the tour with a match on Saturday 13th August where Dungannon tour veteran and Captain Paul Magee will lead out the team against Monmouth County, Redbank. Whilst there they will meet up with past players Aaron Fry, Melvin Ferry and tour guide Geoffrey Morrow with the former two pulling on the boots to boost the playing numbers further.
The tour then moves to Newport for two days rest and relaxation before moving onto Boston to prepare for the second and final match of the tour against the New England Barbarians, Boston on Thursday 18th August.
The remainder of the tour is filled with various site-seeing trips including a day trip to New York and other ‘tour activities’ before the party commences the return journey to Stevenson Park on Saturday 20th August, arriving back in Dungannon on the following day.
The players have been working hard in preparation for the tour and everyone is enthusiastic about the prospect of playing in the current heatwave that is currently hitting the east coast of America!
