Dungannon RFC’s Paul Magee is gearing up to take part in the 4 Peaks Challenge to raise funds of the Wooden Spoon Charity
On 3rd July this year we will be taking part in the 4 Peaks Challenge to raise funds for the Wooden Spoon Charity. Wooden Spoon was founded in 1983 and since then has been making a difference to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people. Wooden Spoon is one of the largest funders of respite and medical treatment centres, sensory enhancement therapeutic facilities, specialist playgrounds, sports activity areas and community-based programmes in the UK. So far they have granted over £20 million to these fantastic projects
Our team of 3 climbers (Paul Magee, Michael Rainey and Glen Telford) and 1 driver (Neil Patterson) will tackle 4 of the highest peaks in the UK and Ireland. The challenge commences with Ben Nevis in Scotland, then to Helvellyn in England, Snowdon in Wales and finally Carantouhill in Ireland. This will involve driving over 1,000 miles and climbing over 14,000 feet, all within 48hrs.
We will also be hosting a Golf Classic at Edenmore Golf & Country Club on Thursday 19th June. The event will be supported by a selection of top rugby players from the province who have represented (or currently represent) Ulster, Ireland and the Lions. We would really appreciate it if as many people as possible would sign up for this unique experience. Every penny we raise will be invested in the charity – and every penny will make a real difference for them. For more information about the golf classic and sponsorship opportunities, please contact Michael Rainey on 07715042201 or email michael.rainey@almacgroup.com
