Buckley converted but 3 minutes later Adam McCusker hit back for Bangor with Cuthbertson adding the extras to make it 14-7. Back came Gannon and Pepsi-Max O’Hagan crossed the line for Buckley to convert and leave the score 21-7 at the break.

That ended the chase for the visitors as Dungannon posted 15 points in the closing stages. Buckley fired over a penalty before adding the extras to a second McLean try. Highfield 36 Dungannon 14
Dungannon’s hopes of making it three wins in a row fell short of the mark in Cork on Saturday. It was a very even contest in the opening half, which ended with Highfield leading 10-7. Chris Bannon scored for the hosts with Paddy O’Toole adding the conversion and a penalty. Winger, Darren Simpson touched down for the visitors with Paul Armstrong adding the extras.
Early in the second half Dungannon lost Ross McCaughey through injury and Brian O’Hey added a try for the home side that O’Toole converted. Jonathan Toalwent close on the wing for Dungannon before Highfield lost a player to the ‘sin bin’. The visitors failed to take advantage and two penalties were missed during his absence. In the final quarter Simpson saw yellow and the hosts sealed the issue with tries from Dave O’Hey and Sean Quade before Armstrong raced through for a try that he converted himself. That left the final score at 36-14. All in all, a gallant effort by the visitors but not enough to trouble second placed Highfield. Dungannon now meet League leaders, City of Derry at home on 17th October.
