Dungannon Launch a new Development Team

Dungannon’s new development squad had their first airing on Saturday in a friendly against Lurgan seconds. This was a great opportunity to create and develop a new squad of players, and Coach Derek McMullan seized the opportunity with both hands.
This was a very evenly contested match, despite the score. In the first half both teams equally shared possession. It was Lurgan who scored the first try after sixteen minutes and they easily slotted over the conversion.

Following this Dungannon responded well, with Phil “the drill” Martin, setting Brian Simpson up for an under the post try. Robin McCleary missed the conversion. Dungannon’s next try came only a minute later by speed machine, Ryan O’Neill, the conversion was again missed.
7 – 10
Lurgan scored the next try out wide on the wing and missed their conversion.
12 – 10
Phil “the drill” Martin, then set Ryan O’Neill up for the next try and Robin’s conversion went wide of the posts. Making up for his lack of success with kicking Robin McCleary then went over for the next try and miraculously kicked the conversion as well.
12 – 21
As the match neared an end, Wallace McKay, Caolan Daly, Ryan O’Neill, Kevin McElduff and Colin Forbes all scored tries with Con Girvan slotting over the conversions. This then left the score,

Hailing it as a “day for rugby,” Derek McMullan and the development squad manager John Armstrong couldn’t have been happier. Nevertheless, both men are calling upon full attendance at training.
