Newry Blitz 29 September 13by Nigel Dale

Dromore HAWKS score first try

Dromore HAWKS traveled to Newry RFC for a blitz in the Development league on Sunday.
Dromore played Newry Harlequinns and Ballynahinch womens rugby teams, the women gave a great account of themselves against well drilled and coached opposition.

Dromore scored 3 tries against Hinch the first ever tries scored by our HAWKS team. It was a great running game and a special mention must go to Julie Ann Quigley who stood in for the injured HAWKS captain Sandra Morton, she rallied her girls and snapped at the opposition putting her mark on the out half for Hinch at every opportunity.

Dromore Coach Ian Pollard said it was a great run tournament and gave a lot of praise to Newry for how all the referees continued to coach all the girls and direct them on and off the ball.

Dromore HAWKS manager Nigel Dale said we have some moves to learn before the next blitz at Dromore on 23 November but our team played brilliantly and a lot of thanks must go to Philly Lunn Eddie Hanna and Ian Pollard for coaching the girls to a high standard of rugby.

Training continues on Monday nights up at Dromore should any woman want to try their hand at this great sport.7-8.30pm (even in the Snow)
