Donegal good start to the season contuined with another victory, against their local rivals letterkenny, yesterday at the Dave Gallagher Memorial Park.. Donegal were on the front foot from the start, and were playing good rugby in letterkennys half and were awarded a pen under the post which Peteso converted to open the scoring. Donegal domanited the rest of the half and scored 4 trys with 1 conversion.. 3 of the tries came from great work by the forwards who sucked letterkennys defence in and the backs with quick hands scored in the corners with Rory Boyle getting two for himself and Gareth McMurrey getting his first of three.. Donegal forwards got their own award, after some great work, they worked their way into Letterkennys 22 and from a scrum Jimmy Brogan crashed his way over the line to leave the halftime score 25-0
Letterkenny started the second half better and put good pressure on Donegals defence and were unfortunate when from a loose ball Donegals Gareth McMurrey after a lovely pass from Rory Boyle scored in the corner. Letterkenny though now where getting into the game, and were spending time in Donegals half, but Donegals defence this year is very strong, and no matter what Letterkenny threw at them Donegal kept them out, and were able 2 come up the field and score 2 more tries with team captain Peteso scoring under the post and Graeth scoring his hatrick, also under the post. Peteso converting both 2 leave the final score 44-0 ..This was a very powerful display by Donegal and a real team effort….

Minor League North Donegal Town 2nds 0 Strabane 2nds 41

Donegal came up against a very good and strong Strabane side who won this league last year, and it was them that domanited this game with some strong forward play and quick backs..Donegal who were missing 5/6 players this week dug in though and in phases worked well together making ground without getting any reward… Strabane were more clinical and ran out easy winners, and will be challenging for the league title again this year, so Donegal can take heart from some of their play…
The 2nds are making a good effort at training but we need 5/6 more players 2 make us more competitive in this league..

So if you thinking what can i do over the winter months why not come down to the Holmes and give rugby a TRY… Training is every Tuesday and Friday evenings from 6.45pm…
