Donegal travelled to City of Derry RFC on a lovely day for rugby, to play the PSNI, and produced their best displayed so far this season. Donegal from the start were in control of the game, with the forwards”stamping” their authority on the game. They broke the game line nearly every time they came forward, and had PSNI under pressure with their defence. Donegal opened the scoring after 5min with a penalty that Peteso Cannon converted, and shortly after that got their first try. Declan Bushill caught a ball inside their half and after a lovely run and some quick hands Jason Vance barged his way over the try line to score in the corner which Peteso converted to make it 10-0 after 10min. Donegal were rewarded 2 more penaltys ,again Peteso converting and just before half time got themselves the try their play in the half deserved with Byran Mulhern scoring after great pressure from Donegals forwards. Peteso converting to leave the half time score 23-0.
Donegal started the 2nd half the same as the first and quickly scored a third try with Gareth mcMurrey getting his first try after lovely work from Shane Gillespie, and 10mins later Gareth scored his 2nd try after Peteso set him up nicely. Peteso missed the first conversion but scored the second one to leave the score 35-0 with 20mins to go. PSNI to their credit had there best spell of the game and had Donegal pinned back in their 22, and with 7mins to go they got their reward with good work from their forwards, they crashed over the line to leave the score 35-7. Straight from the kick off Donegal forwards turned over the ball and after lovely back play Rory Boyle scored in the corner to leave the final score 40-7..
It was a real powerful display from 1 to 15 but Shaun “shane” Mahon was man of the match.. No game next week …
Donegal 2nds 14 Innishowen 1st 54 Minor League North 12/oct/2013
Donegal 2nds played table toppers Innishowen down at the Holmes, but could not compete against a very strong and fast Innishowen side. Donegal suffered a set back soon into the game when centre Anthony Byrne went off injured to add to the list of injured players with now 7 regulars out injured, and Innishowen seized the opportunity to control the first half and they ran in 5 tries. Donegal were poor with a lot of tackles been missed and at half time were 40pts down.
In the 2nd half Donegal played far better and made a real game off it. They tackled better and their forwards worked the ball up the field. They got a try after the forwards rumbled the ball and Ian Lynch scored which Peter mcDyer converted. Innishowen scored 2 more tries but Donegal dug in and Shaun mcGill scored a try, again after good forward play which Peter converted to leave the final score 14-54.
We wish a speedy recover to all out injured at the moment, but more effort needed at training. Their 2nd half display should give encouragement to all….. Training is as usual tue and fri nites at 6.45pm.. All newcomers welcome.

A full bus of kids and parents had a night to remember, when all headed to Ravenhill, and watched Ulster beat Leicester on friday night in the Heineken cup, and for 12 of our under 10s to play in front of 14 thousand people for the half time entertainment. They played with real heart and were a credit to the hard working coaches in the minis section. A big thank you to all that helped organise a great night..
