Larne 1st 16 Donegal Town 1st 10 Q3 League Away 26/oct/2013
Donegal. on the road again, made the long journey to Larne. Playing in very windy and wet conditions, they just came up short, off a great victory against league favourites Larne. Playing against a strong breeze and pouring rain, Donegal played the best 40 minutes of rugby all year. Larne threw all at Donegal, but they stood up strong. Donegal keep putting Larne back with some great tackling, and were making inroads into Larnes half. Donegal were getting the better at srum time, and in the lineouts but with such a strong breeze, if Larne got the ball, Donegal were put back into their 22.. After 18min, Larne got on the scoresheet with a penalty. 3-0. Larne then got a lucky try when attacking Donegal in Donegals 22, a loose pass came off the knee of Larnes no12. and went forward over the try line, and he was first there to touchdown under the post ,which they converted to make score after 25min 10-0.. The rest of the half however was played in Larnes terrortitry, as Donegal took control of the game, and with halftime approaching Shane Gillespie scored a very brave try as he dived in after great rumbling by our forwards. Peteso Cannon converted, to leave halt time score 10-7..
Half time came at the wrong time, because as good as we were in the first half, Donegal were the complete opposite in the 2nd half. Just after 5min of the 2nd half Larne had added 2 their lead with a penalty to go 13-7 up. With the wind easing, and the rain stopping, Donegal couldnt get going and with alot of individual mistakes Donegal never put pressure on Larnes defences.. After 15min of the half, Peteso scored a penalty to make it 13-10, but Larne came straight up and got their own penalty to make it 16-10.. There was to be no more scoring ,as Donegal keep making errors and everytime they threatened, Larne were able to clear .. Donegal never got out of second gear, and Larne were able to see out the game.. Players and management were disappointed after the match, as it was there to be won, but a lot of positives were there too..

Donegal Town 2nds 12 Tri Chonaill 1st 27 Minor League North 26/oct/2013
Donegal 2nds unfortunately couldnt get the better off Tri Chonaill, on a wet and windy day at the Holmes. Tri Chonaill where stronger on the ball, and where making inroads into Donegals defences. They got 2 early penaltys and mid way through the half, they scored a try to make the score 0-11. Donegal were in the game but without much threat and another two penaltys gave Tri Chonaill a lead of 0-17. With 5 minutes of the 1st half to go, Donegal clawed their way into the game when after good work from the forwards, Dara Faragher crashed over to leave the half time score 5-17..
The 2nd half went the same as the first as Tri Chonaill were the better of the two teams. Donegal cause wasnt helped when two players Ciaran Harley and Paul ncInaw
had 2 leave the field with injuries, and as they had no subs they finished the game with 13 players, Tri chonaill ran in 2 tries, but Donegal had the last say, after a quick tap penalty, and a bit of rumbling, Donegals captain Michael Hannafin scored a converted try to leave the full time score 12-27. We have alot of injuries. but we do need more at training.
