They played out three great battles against their counterparts who had travelled from the Shores of the Irish Sea on Belfast Lough to the Atlantic shores of Donegal Bay on the opposite side of the province. satisfying for all involed especially their coaches Paul O Gara, Kieran Murphy and Paul Timoney. Fortune swung in the opposite direction for the 15’s who despite a great opening start to their game went down heavily, conceding quite a number of tries in themselves in a result that did them little justice. Somedays nothing goes right and that’s sport too. The 17’s gave an excellent account of themselves despite going down 24-21 in a game they never deserved to lose. Both sides got the crowd going with a thrilling end to their match with Carrickfergus just holding on to their slim lead until the final whistle. The next two games for the 17’s are critical as they will determine their cup prospects in a season that has seen them persistently knocking on the door of success. The steady hands of coaches Brendan Woods and Nigel Craig may just be enough to guide them through!
